Havana, December 28 (RHC-ACN)-- The international campaign for the release of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters held in the United States is going strong in Quebec and throughout Canada, says writer and activist Arnold August. In an article posted on the UNITE newspaper website of the Canadian Workers Federation, the Canadian author stressed the need to further spread the truth of the Cuban Five case and appeal to the sensitiveness of the people. August recalled that Gerardo Hernandez, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and René Gonzalez were arrested on September 12, 1998 after they monitored Florida-based violent organizations that planned actions against Cuba. The terrorist organizations have undertaken violent actions against the Cuban people for the past 50 years with the consent of U.S. Authorities. Such terrorist acts have killed 3,478 persons and have injured another 2,099 people, explained August, who is also member of the International Committee for the Freedom of the Five. Arnold August is also member of the Fabio Di Celmo Committee for the Five, and the Quebec-Cuba Solidarity Coordination Table.
