Biran, Cuba, Mar 6.- The 8th International Colloquium for the Freedom of The Five and against terrorism, to be held in the city of Holguin from November 20th through the 24th, will become a call against hatred and injustice and in favor of unity.
The announcement of the meeting -held every year since 2005- was made in Biran, birthplace of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers. Social and trade union leaders, journalists, lawyers and members of the Solidarity Brigades of several countries attend this meeting every year, in support for the cause of Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez. During the ceremony, Amaury Torno, representative in the province of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, explained that sending a message to the world with this announcement from a community like Biran is a great pride, since it’s a place where the roots of the two leaders of the Cuban Revolution are found. Over 300 delegates from some 50 nations of all continents are expected to participate in this forum in Holguin, 770 kilometers east of Havana. Rene, Antonio, Ramon, Fernando and Gerardo were arrested in 1998 in the United States, where they were monitoring the activities of Florida-based terrorist organizations to warn their people about their violent actions. They were condemned in a biased trial in 2001, to sentences ranging from 15 years to two life imprisonments plus 15 years. Rene already served his sentence, but was given the additional punishment of three years of “supervised release” in US territory. (ACN). RADIO CADENA AGRAMONTE
