October 5th for the Cuban Five / El 5 de Octubre por los 5 Cubanos

Since last January people from all over the world have been contacting the White House on the 5th of each month to demand President Obama to immediately free the Cuban 5 political prisoners held in US prisons.

Also, on that same day a number of committees have established having regular events and demonstrations to keep the struggle for their freedom loud and alive.

This month holds particular significance because on October 7th, René González, one of the Cuban 5 Patriots, will be released from the US prison in Marianna Florida after serving out his 13 year sentence. The confinement of Rene in a federal prison will end but due to a capricious decision of the US government he will not be able to return home to his family. South Florida district Judge Lenard rejected a petition submitted by Rene Gonzalez that would have allowed him to return to his wife, his daughters and his parents. In an unprecedented ruling he has been ordered to remain in the United States on probation for three years.

On the 5th of October, contact President Barack Obama demanding not just the immediate return of René Gonzalez to his homeland but to free all of the Cuban 5!

El 5 de Octubre por los 5 Cubanos 

Desde enero del corriente año, personas de todas partes del mundo han contactado a la Casa Blanca el 5 de cada mes para demandar al Presidente Obama la libertad inmediata de los cinco presos políticos cubanos en prisiones de los EEUU.

Además, algunos comités han establecido ese día como una fecha para realizar eventos, manifestaciones y otros tipos de acciones para mantener presente la lucha por la libertad de los cinco.

Este mes tiene un significado especial  debido a que el 7 de octubre René González uno de los cinco Patriotas cubanos saldrá en libertad después de cumplir su condena de 13 años en la prisión de Marianna Florida.

El confinamiento de Rene en una prisión federal llegará a su fin, pero  debido a una decisión caprichosa del gobierno de los EEUU Rene no podrá regresar a su hogar y a su familia. La jueza Lenard, del distrito del Sur de la Florida, rechazó una petición presentada por René González que le hubiese permitido regresar junto a su esposa, sus hijas y sus padres. En una decisión sin precedente se la ha ordenado a Rene permanecer en los EEEUU por tres 3 años bajo libertad supervisada.

Este 5 de Octubre, contacte al Presidente Obama para demandar no solo el inmediato regreso de Rene Gonzalez a su patria pero ademas que libere a los 5 Cubanos Ahora!
