![]() Havana, May 2 (Prensa Latina) Cuban heroes Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez urged here today to multiply the solidarity with their comrades imprisoned in the United States, where a forum for the cause of The Cuban Five will be held soon. The Cuban Five includes Rene and Fernando, already in Cuba after serving unfair, harsh prison sentences, and also Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero and Ramon Labanino, who remain in US prisons for monitoring Miami-based terrorist anti-Cuban groups. Rene and Fernando made their call at an International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba running in this capital, attended by some 1,000 trade union activists from around the world. The crime against The Cuban Five was conceived in Washington, in a conspiracy involving the powers in that country, the White House and the judicial system, said Rene, who urged participants to flood the White House with telegrams and e-mails denouncing the injustices committed against The Cuban Five when the international rally of solidarity with their cause is held in the US capital on June 4-11. Parliament members, lawyers, intellectuals and other personalities who demand the release of Gerardo, Antonio and Ramon are expected to be there. Fernando Gonzalez, who served over 50 years in US prisons, said that legal resources of the case have been exhausted; which turns world solidarity indispensable. The world must know the injustice that is being committed against our comrades, he said, and noted that Gerardo (given two life sentences plus 15 years) might die behind bars if the pressure of international solidarity failed to have him released. thecuban5.org
