More low blows against Venezuela by the U.S. and its allies!
Once again the imperialist order is disrespecting the sovereignty of a 3rd world country -this time the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela- where the nation has decided to elect leaders/governments it pleases, rousing the ever increasing animosity of the U.S. of A. superpower and its allies. But why? Is it because Venezuela, under the leadership of late Hugo Chavez and now Nicolás Maduro, has rid the country of illiteracy? Or, is it because Venezuela now provides free public health care to its entire population? Or, is it because it allows Venezuelans from humble backgrounds to access up to the highest level of education? Or, is it just because Venezuela does not dance to the tune played by the bully-riddled United States imperialist class and its allies? After the recent coup attempt with the involvement of the U.S., the U.K. and Canada, which was exposed and crushed in a short time, we saw an Executive Order signed by Mr. Barack Hussein Obama imposing sanctions on Venezuelan officials, followed by the Canadian Senate’s move, led by a Conservative, condemning the South American nation for human rights’ violations and other such highly regarded matters. Let us just expose their hypocrisy and double-talk on the issue of rights in terms of the respect of law and democracy! Luis Posada Carriles, the most notorious terrorist in the western hemisphere and a self-confessed and convicted terrorist, is walking the streets of Miami as a "hero" to his cronies! A “hero” who, while positioned as the director of Venezuela’s General Sectoral Directorate of Intelligence and Prevention Services (Dirección de Servicios de Inteligencia Policial – DISIP) in the early 1970's, tortured intellectuals and others, disfigured and disappeared them; the same “hero” who was helped by former CIA Director, and then U.S. President, George Bush Sr., to escape from prison and from justice. Posada Carriles, trained by U.S. intelligence agencies in explosives, co-authored the bombing and destruction of a Cubana Airliner in midair in 1976 causing the death of all aboard. This was the first such act in the Americas, long before the horrendous acts of September 11th, 2001. Of course, for the purpose of briefness, there’s no need to bother quoting the declassified documents of the numerous terrorist acts that Carriles and his cohorts carried out in multiple countries, including the U.S. and Canada. One wonders why the U.S. has not responded -for many years now- to the Venezuelan government’s extradition request for this home-trained terrorist. And why the government of Canada helped quash a resolution at the Summit of the Americas for this extradition to proceed! Does such behaviour demonstrate any decency or any sense of justice in regards to human rights and the respect of law and of international law?! The hegemonic -read racist- approach of the Empire towards Venezuela is not any different than its treatment of the toiling African-American, Latino and Aboriginal peoples. Daily news of the deaths of young people at the hands of agents of repression -police- is known to all and the incarcerations of millions of them in the Empire’s dungeons is exemplified in the imprisonment of political prisoners Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu Jamal and Puerto Rican independence movement leaders such as Oscar López Rivera. Here in Canada, on St. Patrick’s Day, we hear the comments of a Conservative parliamentarian who dares tell a Muslim woman to "get the hell back to where she comes from" for having the dignity to hold on to her cultural background. Needless to talk about the untiring struggle of the aboriginal peoples and their allies here, demanding a simple inquiry into the deaths and disappearances of thousands of missing/murdered aboriginal women. It seems that human rights, law and democracy are not applicable to the First Nations of this land! That is why we stand in solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, against any and all attempts to undermine its sovereignty and independence by the U.S. government and its allies, which have nothing to offer to Venezuela, especially when it comes to human rights and democracy! And as Cuba and Venezuela, two sister nations, are cooperating on gigantic projects for enhancements in education, health care, culture and other mutual areas which advance the human rights of the great majority of their peoples, we will continue organizing educational forums in order for the truth to come out and for its divulgation to be multiplied exponentially, so that more and more people will be inspired to carry out actions defending the sovereignty of nations. Less quick witted rhetoric, and more explanations why the US double crosses, and double downs or one day says Open to Cuba the next day Turns down on Venezuela -- is it that Obama has no control and the State Department has one end of the elephant and the Pentagon another and Obama's administration has a tail?
