The Bolivarian Revolution is once again under a vicious attack led by the U.S. government and its allies -including Canada- which just cannot stop misinforming the broader public about Venezuela’s achievements. The military coup has been exposed and some of its main ringleaders have been arrested. The Bolivarian Revolution and, by extension, humanity globally needs to come together if we intend to stop the hegemonic and racist approach of the imperialist west towards the peoples of the south and the downtrodden and the humble here. As we have experienced the rise in solidarity with the cause of the missing/murdered indigenous women in the streets of Toronto; the outrage against the racist and islamophobic cycle of manipulated mainstream news; and the examples set by martyrs and revolutionaries such as Malcolm X; during this Black History Month we also remember late Dudley Laws and, just like him, we keep on marching. Toronto Forum on Cuba would love to see you at the following two activities organized to shed a light of truth in the situations facing the Bolivarian and Cuban revolutions. Since an injury to one is an injury to all, we stand firm in our solidarity. And as the saying goes in the anti-war movement: "from Iraq to Palestine - occupation is a crime", we say: "from Tehran to Caracas - economic sanctions R crimes". One day the lackeys of imperialism mobilize and organize violent protests in the streets, then they murder the United Socialist Party of Venezuela’s youngest member Robert Serra and his wife María Herrera; then on another day, the Canadian Parliamentary Subcommittee on International Human Rights applauds this behaviour by declaring itself in favour of the Venezuelan de facto leader of the extreme right wing opposition, Leopoldo López; and now all of Canada’s major political parties, from left (including the Green Party), centre and right, condemn the imprisonment of Antonio Ledezma, another one of the main opposition leaders, who took part in the blowing up of liquor stores, nightclubs, a border bridge and the regional headquarters of the National Electoral Council (CNE) as part of the insurrectionary plan known as "La Salida" (The Way Out) promoted by Leopoldo López and Maria Machado, in which they caused the death of 43 people. The offenses of conspiracy and association, for which Ledezma was arrested, are defined and penalized under Venezuela’s Criminal Code and Organic Law against Organized Crime and Financing of Terrorism. WHAT A SHAM THE IMPERIALIST DEMOCRACY IS WHEN COMPARED TO PARTICIPATORY AND SOCIALIST DEMOCRACY!
