Alarcón meets President of Ethiopia’s House of Representatives / Líder parlamentario etíope expresa su apoyo a los Cinco

Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada, President of Cuba’s National People’s Power Assembly met with Abadula Gemeda Dago, President of Ethiopia’s House of Representatives, during the leader’s visit to Cuba.

"The relations between our two countries are based on blood," recalled Gemeda Dago. "Many Cubans gave their lives in Ethiopia fighting for freedom. All our people, not just our government, hold you in our thoughts."

Additionally, he offered his gratitude for the education received in Cuba by Ethiopian youth who are now making a contribution in various sectors of the country’s society, economy and, in some cases, at the highest political levels.

He emphasized, as well, that a great indicator of the goodwill shared by the two countries was the hospitality with which he was received and expressed his thanks for the warm welcome.

Alarcón, in turn, said that it is a source of satisfaction for Cubans to have supported the Ethiopian people, in their struggle for independence, emblematic in the history of African nations.

ETHIOPIAN LEGISLATIVE LEADER SUPPORTS THE CUBAN FIVE

Abadula Gemeda Dago reiterated that his country, like many others has taken an active stance in the struggle to free the Cuban Five, unjustly imprisoned in the United States.

Prensa Latina reports that during a meeting with families of these anti-terrorists, the legislative leader asked about current developments in the case.

Mirta Rodríguez, Antonio Guerrero’s mother, emphasized, in the name of all the families, that in the struggle to free the Five, national legislatures have been among the most important forces and expressed her gratitude for this support.

Rodríguez said that meetings such as the one with the Ethiopian leader are especially encouraging and raise hopes for the release of the Five.

Líder parlamentario etíope expresa su apoyo a los Cinco

El presidente de la Cámara de Representantes de Etiopía, Abadula Gemeda Dago, aseguró que su país, al igual que muchas naciones africanas, es muy activo en la lucha por la liberación de los Cinco.

La agencia PL destaca que durante el encuentro con familiares de los luchadores antiterroristas, el líder parlamentario se interesó por el estado actual del caso.

Mirta Rodríguez, madre de Antonio Guerrero, resaltó en nombre de los familiares que en la lucha por el regreso de los antiterroristas los parlamentos han estado entre las fuerzas más importantes y agradeció el apoyo brindado por esas instancias.

Rodríguez expresó que encuentros como este representan nuevas esperanzas para los luchadores antiterroristas.

Esta es la segunda jornada del líder parlamentario aquí, donde permanecerá hasta el próximo miércoles para cumplir con varias actividades que incluyen recorridos por instituciones y lugares de interés cultural y económico, así como reuniones con autoridades. (SE)
