To friends from all over the world who believe in justice,

The recent visit to Cuba by former US President Jimmy Carter, renews our hope. His positive statements calling for the freedom of the Cuban 5 and the right of family visits during an interview with Cuban television constitutes an encouraging sign for our struggle http://www.granma.cu/ingles/cuba-i/1april-Press-Conference.html, http://machetera.wordpress.com/

In addition, his statements have appeared in media around the world, for many of these news outlets this marks the first time they have mentioned the Cuban 5. But we can not sit still while the 5 continue to be imprisoned and think it is over.

We need to take the visit of Carter as an opportunity to increase the struggle for the freedom of the Cuba 5 to all corners of the planet.

In the messages we are all sending to President Obama this month, on April 5th, we should mention the statements of Former President Jimmy Carter and the last report from Amnesty International of October 2010 asking President Obama to free the 5 Cuban Heroes through a presidential order.

IT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER THAT NEXT TUESDAY APRIL 5TH, YOU MAKE A CALL, OR SEND A FAX, OR AN E-MAIL, OR A TELEGRAM to the WHITE HOUSE to demand President Obama free the Cuban 5 imprisoned in the United States for defending their homeland.

Besides making phone calls, sending faxes, telegrams or e-mails to the White House, we would like to continue the proposal to make the fifth of each month a day of collective actions to demand Obama immediately free our 5 brothers. Lets organize rallies, demonstrations, vigils, public events, marches, etc in front of US embassies of each country.

Lets demand President Obama make use of the rights conferred upon him by the US Constitution, as a lawyer, as a father, as a son, as a husband, and as a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, to END THIS COLOSSAL INJUSTICE AND TO FREE THE 5 NOW!!!
