Kiev, June 9.- Representatives of various political and social organizations of Ukraine Tuesday gave the Cuban Ambassador Felix Leon Carballo 40,000 signatures collected in the European campaign "One million signatures for the release of the Cuban five".
In a solemn ceremony next to the bust of Cuban National Hero José Martí, located in the gardens of the Cuban embassy to Ukraine also took part solidarity activists with Cuba and the National Committee for Freedom of the Five. Participants set out their reasons for giving their signature and also demanded U.S. president Barack Obama the release of Gerardo Hernández, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero. The Five, as they are internationally known since 1998 met stiff penalties in U.S. prisons for alerting their country from violent actions forged in U.S. territory. The most prominent activists in this first phase of the campaign received a certificate of recognition on behalf of the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five. Coordinator of the National Committee for the Five Manuel López explained the progress of the European campaign and once again denounced the unjust and immoral imprisonment suffered by the Cuban five.
