US Pacifist Women Slam Trial of Posada Carriles

HOLGUIN, Cuba, May 21 (acn) Members of the US Women’s Movement for Cuba slammed today the unjust end of the trial of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles recently held in El Paso, Texas.

Coordinator and founder of US-Cuba Women’s Collaboration, Cindy Domingo, told ACN the result of the trial in which Posada Carriles walked out free reflects the double standards of the American legal system.

Domingo, who is also leader of the Cuba-Bolivarian Alliance of the International League of Women for Peace committee, said it is unbelievable how Posada Carriles, self-confessed author of terrorist crimes, walks freely precisely on US streets.

Domingo said the terrorist evaded justice while the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters remain imprisoned in the US even though they prevented people from both nations from dying in terrorist actions planned and conducted by Miami-based anti-Cuba groups.

Professor Juanita Strout of the University of Montana, organizer for women’s global rights, peace and justice said it is more important now than ever to step up actions for the release of Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Gerardo Hernandez, known as the Cuban Five.

Strout also referred to the effects of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba. She said she has seen first hand the consequences of the measure and noted that Washington’s obstacles to prevent American companies from trading with Cuba are evident.

Domingo and Strout are part of the US Women’s Group for Cuba whose mission
is to foster a solid movement of women in the US dedicated to bring the blockade to an end.

Fourteen members of the pacifist movement will make a tour of five Cuban provinces: Havana, Villa Clara, Holguin, Granma and Santiago de Cuba.
