On Mon. March 19, René González was given permission by Judge Joan Lenard to go home to Cuba to visit his ill brother Roberto. René's petition to the court for travel was submitted on Feb. 24. With the diligent work of René's attorney Phil Horowitz, and after thousands of letters, emails and phone calls from thousands of Cuban Five supporters, René, Roberto and their family will be together soon. The court order has imposed some requirements on René, including a return to the U.S. after 2 weeks. Please stay alert to future news, as he still has to receive U.S. government permission to travel. The struggle to Free the Five continues! The National Committee to Free the Cuban Five Read the motion granting him permission (pdf)
