Havana, Cuba, May 6.- The "5 for the 5" campaign of solidarity with the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters imprisoned in the US was quite intense this year in different countries.
The initiative consisting of carrying out actions on the fifth of the fifth month of the year was launched in 2010 at the 6th International Colloquium for the Freedom of the Cuban Five held annually in Holguin. In Panama, actions included the presentation of a book of poems dedicated one of the Cuban Five, Antonio Guerrero, who together with Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez, is serving long terms in the US for having penetrated Miami-based terrorist groups to prevent criminal actions against the Cuban people. The book titled "Conviction and Evocation" by Francisco Fernandez is based on Gerrero’s book of poems "Firm and Romantic." The author establishes a close dialogue with Guerrero about his years in jail and his reflections. The book was launched at the Exedra Books book store of Panama City in the presence of intellectuals, professors and union and political leaders, who took advantage of the opportunity to demand the release of the five Cubans. On related news, journalists and students in Belarus slammed the double standards of the powerful media monopolies which hide the truth about the Cuban Five. The critic was made at the 15th International Media Exhibition of Belarus in which Cuban ambassador to that country Alfredo Nieves spoke about the biased trial to which the Cuban Five were submitted in the US. In El Salvador, solidarity and political organizations meet in the municipality of Apopa and urged American President Barack Obama to order the release of the five Cubans. A similar meeting was held in Seychelles where Cuban specialists working in collaboration programs sent a letter to Obama noting that the trial of the Cuban Five was neither clean nor fair.(ACN) http://www.cadenagramonte.cu/english/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5539:5-for-the-5-solidarity-campaign-intense-in-several-countries&catid=62:news&Itemid=57
