Gerardo Hernandez is one of the Miami Five, five Cuban men unjustly imprisoned un US jails in September 1998 for trying to stop terrorist attacks against their country.
After serving 16 years of his double life sentence, Gerardo and the remaining imprisoned members of the Five, were released on 17 December 2014 following discussions and a prisoner swap between the Cuban and US governments. On 29 March 2015, Gerardo spoke to Rob Miller, director of the British Cuba Solidarity Campaign about his release, the birth of his daughter Gema, Cuba-US relations and Venezuela. He also sent a special message to members and supporters of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign and trade union movement who had campaigned for his release. www.cuba-solidarity.org.uk
