Dear Friends and Supporters of the Cuban Five:

On behalf of the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five, we want to extend our sincere gratitude for your solidarity and support in all the battles fought during 2012 to free the Five. We wish you and your loved ones, health, a prosperous and committed New Year 2013, and strength and continued inspiration to continue the struggle for the Five Heroes' freedom. May true justice and peace prevail for the peoples of the world.

For nearly 12 years the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five has waged an energetic campaign for the freedom of Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González from U.S. prisons. Although René was released from prison in October 2011, the court is treating him punitively by requiring him to serve a probation sentence of three years in the United States.

Since they were brutally arrested by FBI agents on September 12, 1998, the Five have been unjustly imprisoned. Their only "crime" was protecting the people of Cuba from U.S.-backed Miami-based terrorists. Every day of their continued imprisonment makes their freedom struggle more urgent.

Founded in June 2001, just days after the Five were wrongly convicted in Miami, the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five in the United States has organized countless forums, protests, press conferences, emergency mobilizations and alerts, critical legal research for their Habeas Corpus appeals, film showings, art exhibits, and many other actions for those twelve years.

We have only been able to carry out this high level of organizing and solidarity for Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando and René, due to the contributions of supporters like you. Thanks to your presence, we never feel alone, we are strong and optimistic, you give us the reasons to believe in justice and freedom. You give us the certainty that one day we will get together to celebrate this victory, and together we will go on fighting for just causes all over the world!!
