Guantanamo, Cuba, May 5.- The participants in the Second Peace Seminar for the elimination of foreign military bases, underway in the eastern province of Guantanamo, demanded the US government the immediate release of the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly imprisoned in that nation since 1998.
On the International Days of Action to Free the Cuban Five ––every fifth day of a month––, in the municipality of Caimanera, delegates from more than 30 countries requested US President Barack Obama to make use of his constitutional prerogatives to free these men. The final declaration draft is already in hands of the more than 85 foreign and Cuban delegates that condemn foreign military bases all over the world and all kind of interferences in a nation’s domestic affairs. The participants in the event criticized the military and imperial hypocrisy of the so-called “humanitarian interventions”; as well as the invasions to Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. The Peace Seminar condemned Obama’s double standard policy, who promised to shut down the illegitimate US military base in Guantanamo, but has not kept his word.
