Hearts vibrated with excitement and the sensation of a lump in our throats was inevitable. Thousands of Cubans felt this way on Tuesday evening when watched on TV a special edition of Radio Rebelde show “La Luz en lo Oscuro” on the five Cuban anti-terrorists imprisoned in US jails.

The subject of yesterday’s show was love, and it could not be otherwise, for everyone was celebrating St. Valentine's Day in Cuba and many countries in the world.

The show dealt with a love story involving five innocent men who are longing to be with their nearest and dearest people in their island nation. Five men that cherish the deepest feelings of love to their spouses, but the inevitable passing of time has made a dent on their lives too. Same has happened to Adriana, Gerardo’s wife; Olga, that of Rene; Rosa Aurora, Fernando’s spouse and Elizabeth, Ramon’s love.

But love is more than loving your couple; it is also devotion for your mother. And  Mirtha, the elderly progenitor of Antonio Guerrero, is an example of a strong and persisting mom. She has said that, in her case, aside for fighting the mercilessness of the US Empire, she struggles against the clock of life.

The greatest passion though is harboured in the Cuban Five’s sincere thankfulness to each person that advocates the struggle for their return.

Once again “La Luz en lo Oscuro” echoed the ordeal of Gerardo Hernandez, because this time he was the only hero that could not record and send a message to his bonsai –as he calls his wife Adriana- and whom he has not seen for over 13 years.

How long will this torture last? Don’t you think it is time to stop this suffering?

The sentiments this televised radio show stirred on people that on February 14th listened to the voices of Rene, Ramon, Antonio and Fernando and the moving testimonies of four wives and a mother provide renovated energies so that people can make their own a cause which admits no arbitrariness or delay.

If the love is the strength that pushes the world, let's push the world ourselves and especially let’s touch many hearts and minds.
