Peña Cultural José Martí - Commemorating the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, February 2, 20132/2/2013 54TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CUBAN REVOLUTION CELEBRATED IN TORONTO Toronto, February 2, 2013. Organized by the association Toronto Forum on Cuba and the Latin American Solidarity Network (LACSN), the "Peña Cultural Jose Marti" was held, at the headquarters of "Casa Maiz" in this city, to mark the 54th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution. A photo documentary, "Multiple Image", made by the Association Toronto Forum on Cuba, was screened during the evening together with songs and poems to Cuba from Latin-American artists living in Toronto. The event was supported by the active participation of the members of the Association of Cuban Residents "Juan Gualberto Gómez". The Chairman of Villa Clara’s branch of UNEAC, Antonio Perez, who is visiting Canada, made the presentation of the Cuban art exhibition dedicated to José Marti and spoke on the relation of the Apostle to the arts, specifically painting, commenting on his self-portraits and small format paintings made by the Maestro to support many of his writings. Addressing the audience, the Consul General of Cuba in Toronto, Javier Dómokos Ruiz, highlighted the importance of unity in the 54 years of struggle and resistance to imperial aggressions as well as to strengthen the newly born continental organization, CELAC, who’s pro tempore Chairmanship was given to Cuba. The activity was attended by the Consuls of Cuba Raul Delgado and Julio Pujol and Venezuela's Consul Manuel Perez. Embassy of Cuba in Canada
