[Activists in Japan Support Cause of The Cuban Five.] Havana, Cuba, Apr 2.- "Osaka’s Group of Solidarity to Know Cuba” ratified its support for the cause of the five heroes of the Caribbean island, unfairly imprisoned in the United States since 1998.

During a meeting in that Japanese city, Andres Gonzalez, political counselor of the Cuban embassy to Japan, thanked the group for its willingness to continue giving their support to these patriots until achieving their release.

Tomoko Nakano, president of the organization, pointed out that her country is going through a very difficult time due to the earthquake and the tsunami that occurred on March 11, but said that in spite of this situation the group will maintain its solidarity until justice is served in the case of The Five, the www.cubaminrex.cu Web site reported.

Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez ere arrested in Miami and condemned to harsh sentences, ranging from 15 years to two life imprisonments.

They warned their people about the violent actions planned by Florida-based anti-Cuban terrorists groups against Cuba.

In addition, details on the Draft Guidelines on the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, to be debated in the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party that will begin on April 16, were given during the meeting.

Members of the Japanese group ratified their willingness to support the organization in their country of the 2nd National Meeting of Solidarity-with-Cuba Groups this year.

Many are the activities carried out in the so-called Land of the Rising Sun to increase support for the Caribbean island, among them the publication of the CUBAPON magazine.

The February issue published details on the 5th International Colloquium of Solidarity with The Five, held in the eastern province of Holguin.

Also in Gambia, in the African continent, Cornelius Gomez, president of the movement in support of Cuba, reiterated its backing of the struggle of the antiterrorists to achieve their freedom. (ACN)
