HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 13 (ACN)  Bolivia’s Solidarity-with-Cuba Movement reiterated in Cochabamba its support of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters held in the United States since 1998.

During a National Conference, the organization expressed its determination to keep fighting to achieve the return to Cuba of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, internationally known as the Cuban Five.

“We demand the immediate return of the Five to Cuba. We reiterate our support of their relatives and their people, who keep fighting for their immediate release,” reads a resolution presented by the leaders of the Solidarity Movement, PL news agency reported.

The resolution welcomes the development of solidarity committees with the Five in different continents and countries, and particularly the actions by the International Committee based in the United States.

The Cuban Five were arrested in September 1998 after they monitored violent plans against Cuba, designed by Washington-supported terrorist organizations based in South Florida.

The Bolivian organization insisted in the need to have renowned personalities in the world of arts, culture and human rights join the international campaign for the Five.

The solidarity group also stressed the importance of an upcoming visit to Bolivia by Adriana Perez, wife of Gerardo Hernandez, one of the Five. Hernandez was given two life terms plus 15 years and remains in prison, like his compatriots, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, and Ramon Labañino.

Rene Gonzalez met a 13-year sentence but he has been forced to remain under a three-year probation in US territory, despite his family lives in Cuba.
