Camagüey, March 5. – Young members of the Committee for Solidarity with the Cuban Five in the “10 de Octubre” cement manufacturing plant in Nuevitas –northern Camagüey- launched a call inviting people to take part in the contest “Mi carta a Obama” (My letter to Obama) aiming at intensifying the worldwide claim in favour of the immediate release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters, who have been unjustly imprisoned in US jails for more than 13 years.

In a bid to step up actions for the release of Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández and Fernando González, and for the return of René González to the island nation, a call to all organizations in solidarity with the noblest causes around the world was made to throw our weight behind the campaign "5 days of actions for the 5". As part of the Jornada de la Prensa Cubana (activities marking the National Press Day on March 14th), journalists in the Cuban province of Camaguey -in coordination with the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP)- met foreign young people who are studying at the universities of this province to share information on the latest events involving the five Cuban heroes.
