KIEV. - The Association of Cuban residents in the Ukraine has demanded that President Barack Obama immediately releases the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States, diplomatic sources said on Friday in this capital.
The Coordinator of the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five in the Ukraine, Manuel López, read a letter to Obama, which requires the release of Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González, Gerardo Hernández and Ramón Labñino. The letter was endorsed unanimously by the signature of those present. During a fraternal meeting, the association provided data on the reality on the island and discussed ways to incorporate new generations of Cuban descent into the activities of the organization. Cuba's ambassador in the Ukraine, Felix Leon Carballo, referred to the review process on the island of the Guidelines for Economic and Social Policy, prior to the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba. In addition, Leon Carballo related the principal activities of the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, during a recent visit to Kiev. (PL) GRANMA
