Free the Cuban 5 Guantanamo (Solvision).- Cuba solidarity groups in Russia held demonstrations in front of the US embassy on Friday to demand the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States.
The activists held their rallies simultaneously at two sites: one group of protesters stood at in the front of the embassy at Debiatinskaya St., and the other group in Nevinski Boulevard, near the old building of the embassy in Sadovaya. Participants demanded the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, who fought international terrorism and have been imprisoned in the United States. Organizers of the event called on all friends of Cuba to send messages to the White House demanding freedom fo the Five, and advocating the fight against terrorism. They also ask that U.S. President Barack Obama use his constitutionally-granted powers to free them. Cuba solidarity organizations and the National Free the Five Committee joined in the world campaign for this cause, holding activities on the fifth of each month aimed at demanding their freedom.
