Solidarity with The Cuban Five in Chile

Santiago, Chile, Jul 16 (Prensa Latina) The Chilean Movement in Solidarity with Cuba in the last few hours carried out different actions to demand the release of The Cuban Five unfairly imprisoned in the United States.

In the Recoleta district of this city, solidarity groups made a symbolic presentation to those fighters of five medals in memory of Joseph Weibel, a leader of the Communist Youth of Chile detained and disappeared by the dictatorship in 1976.

The medals were received by representatives of the Embassy of Cuba in Chile, led by the counselor Jorge Luis Bernaza.

The ceremony was also attended by members of the Coordinating Committee of Solidarity with Cuba, the Regional Committee of the Communist Party, and representatives of the United Workers Central, the College of Teachers and councilors and residents of the area.

In parallel, the José Marti Cultural Organization of Solidarity with Cuba and Extension Center of Cultures and the Arts of the city of Ovalle, Coquimbo, opened over the weekend an exhibition of Cuban cinema, with films dedicated to The Cuban Five.

The exhibition includes audiovisual presentations denouncing the trial plagues with iregularities followed against Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, who were given harsh because they warned their country about plans of terrorist groups based in Miami.

Opened by the Director of the host institution, Eduardo Pizarro, and Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba in Chile, Ruben Pino, the exhibition includes the documentary "Will the Real Terrorist Please Stand Up" by U.S. filmmaker Saul Landau.
