HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 7 (ACN) The People’s Liberation Front of Sri Lanka (JVP) joined the world campaign demanding the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters held in the U.S. since 1998 after issuing a declaration condemning the inhumane treatment give to those prisoners by US authorities.
The Central Committee of the Front published its declaration on its monthly magazine Red Power, in reference to Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Antonio Guerrero, internationally known as the Cuban Five. The organization particularly criticized the recent denial by US authorities of a consular visit to Gerardo Hernandez as the most recent violation of his rights, PL news agency reported. The JVP publication also published a statement by the Cuban Foreign Ministry denouncing reiterated violations of the rights of the five heroes.
